Mies Van Der Rohe Barcelona Pavilion
The Barcelona Pavilion – A Modernist Architectural Masterpiece
Originally designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, the Barcelona Pavilion was created as the German Pavilion for the 1929 International Exposition in Barcelona, Spain. It is globally recognized as a milestone of modernist architecture.
This iconic structure is constructed from premium materials such as glass, steel, and a variety of exquisite marbles, including green marble, golden onyx, and travertine. The minimalist design emphasizes open space, clean lines, and transparency, making it an influential reference in architectural education and design philosophy.
The Pavilion is also home to two iconic design elements:
The Barcelona Chair, designed by Mies van der Rohe himself, which has become a timeless piece of modern furniture.
Georg Kolbe’s sculpture "Alba", elegantly displayed against the reflective water pool and polished marble surfaces.
